- Tok tok
Original artwork description
The title came before I fully understood the painting.
Tok tok. A knock. A sound every language already knows without translation. You don't need to speak the same language as a rooster — you just know.
This one arrived loud. Built up in layers — acrylic, oil pastel, things I found and pressed into the surface because they belonged there. The 90×90 canvas felt right for something this unapologetic. Square. Centered. Like it owns the room it's in.
Roosters show up across centuries of painting for a reason. Presence. Ego. A refusal to be ignored. This one is mine — somewhere between folk memory and raw paint.
When I finished I didn't want to sell it. That's usually the sign.
This is not quiet wall art. It's the piece that makes people walk up closer, then step back, then walk up again.
The found objects are real and original to this canvas. No print will ever carry them.
