Tidal Fire (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Anna Shelvey

Tidal Fire is an original abstract acrylic painting inspired by the dramatic energy of the sea at the end of the day, when dark storm clouds meet intense flashes of fiery colour.

The painting is built up through layers of acrylic paint, with palette knife work, scraping and expressive marks creating movement and texture across the surface. Deep charcoal, black and stormy blues dominate the sky, gradually giving way to vivid oranges, reds and touches of turquoise below.

The intense orange glow creates a strong focal point, contrasting with the darker, atmospheric upper section. The turquoise and blue marks through the lower section suggest reflections across the water, while the horizontal marks give the painting a sense of movement and distance.

Tidal Fire is expressive and atmospheric rather than a literal seascape, capturing the feeling of a dramatic coastal sky and the energy of the water beneath it.
