The screaming Earth (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Colin Ross Jack

This summer’s heatwaves and fires in many countries, including ours and the terrible floods in places like Nepal have brought it home to many people that planet Earth is suffering.
In terms of the 4 elements of the ancient world, our Earth and Air are threatened by Fire and Water.
And the recent flight of Artemis to the Moon has reminded us that though we feel we are on solid ground, our planet is a fragile blue sphere suspended in the cosmos, now under threat from human activity.
Based on my ukioyo-e Japanese style, this is stylised, not realistic, a pattern of line, and colour.
It also struck me, painting the water very much in the style of Hokusai, that changing the colours and turning the shapes upside down resembles fire in that style.
