The Rainbow (2026) Original Oil Painting by Tim Smith

The Rainbow

A rainbow breaks through the view from a window, framed by side panels and bars painted in gold. Light moves into the room, and the same light draws the eye back outside.

The painting plays with the space between interior and exterior, and with how light travels in both directions: how it fills a room, and how it takes us out into the world beyond.

A small painting with presence
Small works like this can go anywhere: a shelf, a desk, a hallway, a bedside. They carry more impact than their size suggests, and can lift your day every time you pass. It’s deceptively small, and it took a surprisingly long time to complete. The gold detailing in the window bars catches the light and shifts as you move around it.
