The Observer (2024) Original Acrylic Painting by Vladimir Mikhalko

“The Observer” belongs to the series “The Mystery of the Third Planet.” The painting depicts a gathering of strange figures within an imagined world. At the centre stands a silent observer who watches the surrounding activity without taking part in it.

The elongated forms and contrasting colours create a scene that feels both ceremonial and theatrical. The figures appear connected, yet each remains enclosed within its own shape and private space. The observer becomes a symbol of distance, attention and the uncertain boundary between participation and detachment.

Created intuitively with acrylic paint, pencil and texture gel, the work combines abstract construction with suggestions of characters and narrative. Viewers are invited to decide who is observing whom—and whether they themselves have also become part of the scene.
