The Garden presents nature as something expansive, unruly and difficult to contain. Across the large 150x200 cm surface, dark stems twist through a layered field of blue, grey, green and pink, carrying vivid buds that remain suspended between recognisable flowers and ambiguous organic forms.

The landscape behind them never fully resolves. Broad brushwork, drips and overlapping passages allow suggestions of vegetation, water and distant terrain to surface and disappear again. This tension between recognition and uncertainty places the work between figurative landscape and expressive abstraction.

Its simple title makes the image stranger rather than explaining it. Shevchuk gives us a garden, but one governed by its own scale and logic – immersive, overgrown and alive with painterly movement.
