The Divided Union (2026) Original Mixed-media Sculpture by Solmaz Vilkachi

This sculpture represents a hybrid creature born from the relationship between masculine and feminine forces. Inspired by mythology and grotesque art, the work combines human, animal, divine, and demonic elements.

The male figure suggests an inner demon: a presence that may appear innocent, yet hides a darker force within. The female figure becomes a maternal goddess, with multiple breasts and an enlarged vulva symbolizing fertility, life, and primal creation.

Through its archaic form, rough texture, and earthy surface, the sculpture explores the complexity of relationships: attraction and conflict, tenderness and violence, creation and destruction, life and death.
