The Bright Field - Aflame (2017) Original Acrylic Painting by Phyllis Mahon

Woman, with hair aflame, gazing over a landscape which is full of energy and colour. The field beyond is lit with vivid gold under a heavy turquoise and blue sky.

The Bright Field is a recurring title that I use, inspired by the poem of the same name by RS Thomas.

I really enjoyed painting her hair and dress, filling the hair with flashes of rainbow colours and fine brush strokes. The transparent dress has little flashes of turquoise and some beads. An earring highlights her face with blue.

Painted throughout August 2017.

Available unframed and ready to hang. I have continued the image around the edge of the canvas so there is no need for a frame.

The painting is in Winsor & Newton Professional acrylics on linen - it has a closer weave than regular canvas.

Wrapped carefully in tissue and lightweight foam-core and sent by Tracked Delivery with a Certificate of Authenticity included.
