Original artwork description
Strawberry Pi is a continuation of my 'Pi Series' which to date I've now done a total of 15.
I'm often asked, "What made you decide to use pi". I liked that pi has a symbol of representation but most of all I liked the double entendre (two interpretations). I don't necessarily try to hide the pi symbol in the painting but incorporate it so that it becomes a piece of the overall painting. In "Strawberry Pi" I incorporated the pi symbol in place of all of the seeds of the fruit, the most pi symbols to date on any of my 'pi paintings'. While in the process of painting, I was afraid that they would be to obvious to the viewer. I later realized that once they were all in and I stood back, they weren't that obvious. The first viewers of the painting didn't even notice the pi's until I mentioned to them to get closer and look at the seeds.
