"Strawberry & Tea" is a vibrant contemporary still life celebrating sweetness, colour and This vibrant still life brings together a few simple pleasures: a freshly made strawberry tart, flowers in bloom, a cup of tea and bright citrus fruits. I wanted to create a cheerful and colourful scene where familiar everyday objects become something more playful and expressive through colour, pattern and composition.

The strawberry tart takes centre stage, surrounded by flowers, patterned ceramics and colourful objects. The combination of rich reds, pinks, blues, greens and yellows creates a lively rhythm throughout the composition, while the different patterns add a decorative quality to the scene.

I enjoy using oil pastel because it allows me to work directly and spontaneously, building up saturated colour while keeping the texture of the paper and individual marks visible. The visible strokes and hatching give the objects a tactile, handmade quality rather than aiming for photorealistic representation.

The painting captures a simple moment of pleasure — flowers on the table, a beautiful cup of tea and a strawberry tart waiting to be enjoyed. It is a celebration of colour, texture and the beauty that can be found in an ordinary afternoon.
