A cluster of roses emerges from soft layers of color, suspended between form and atmosphere. Some petals are carefully defined, while others dissolve into washes of pink, turquoise and violet.
The painting is less about capturing the flowers exactly as they appear and more about the experience of looking at them. Color moves beyond the edges of the roses, allowing the image to shift between observation and abstraction — as if the flowers are still forming, changing and disappearing at the same time.
