Strange Creatures is an imaginary world inhabited by ambiguous, almost animal-like forms. Some seem to have eyes, legs, antennae or fur, while others remain impossible to identify.
Transparent layers of colour flow into one another, creating unexpected textures and mutations. Fine drawn lines contrast with the fluid shapes, while touches of white gouache and acrylic ink introduce light, rhythm and strange cellular details.
Rather than describing existing animals, the painting suggests a population of invented beings — awkward, playful and slightly mysterious.
