Standing there, I am captivated by the vibrant colour contrasts of the rape fields. The mood of the sky above and the open vista is expansive - it feels immersive.

Responding to my visual memories, sketches and notes, I work intuitively to apply paint with strokes of my palette knife, building layers and texture to express movement and capture the essence of ‘being there’ in the landscape. Creating this painting has been a ‘journey of exploration’ – to bring more freedom of mark making, depth and texture into my creative process. There is much heart and soul woven into this piece.

Painted in my Cambridge studio. This original artwork is created with Winsor & Newton professional oil paints on high quality stretched canvas, with softwood stretchers. Canvas size is 24 x 30 cm x 4.5 cm depth. The image is extended on the sides of the canvas creating a 3-D effect. The canvas is signed on both the front and the back, and there are 2 D-rings attached to each side of the softwood stretchers strung with strong cord so that this artwork is READY TO HANG to sit flush against the wall, with no need for further framing, offering a contemporary finish to the piece.

If you prefer your painting to be FRAMED please contact me and I would be very happy to assist you.
