A misty and atmospheric etching.

Inspired by a morning winter walk, in the soft mist, on the Sussex Downs. In this area, the environment changes moment by moment. The ethereal mist sweeps across the landscape, hiding and revealing, clusters of figures emerge and depart - uplifting for the soul! In the centre of this piece a small pond glows in the landscape, dotted by trees that extend to the left, edging the field.

This artwork was created using a zinc plate, aquatint (melting resin dust onto the plate with a flame, to allow the ink to 'grip'), acid and burnishing. The professional etching ink is smeared onto the plate and gently wiped. The image is created by placing the inked plate onto the bed of an etching press, with a sheet of 'Somerset' heavy weight, white paper, on top. The press is then 'hand wound', pressing the plate and paper together, transferring the image onto the paper.

A limited edition print of just 25, this is print number 2.
