As I was working on this painting, I was listening to a song by Marshall Hall called, "I Just Feel Like Something Good is About to Happen," from his "Brighter One" disk, and I realized that this painting is a good expression of the upbeat, joyful mood of the song, which I encourage you to listen to if you haven't heard it. My work begins with a watercolor collage on Arches paper, which is mounted on canvas. This one received some acrylic texture before it was overpainted in oils, Jackson Pollock style, with layers of drips in a bright, high key palette of yellows, orange, pinks and bits of red. The painting has been given a satin varnish for protection, and hanging hardware is already installed.
