About Gina Valenti-Lazarchik

  • Biography
As an artist, I'm interested in the language of abstraction, and I often use collage and layered paint--watercolor, oil and cold wax--to express different layers of experience.  My work often explores Christian themes, which I choose to express in modern styles and methods, to show that faith is alive in present day believers.  To this end, I often collage copies of Scripture passages right into the surface of the work.

I am also inspired by the connections between music and visual art, which I've explored in several series ("Quartet" and "Sonetto"), along with "Allegro" and the "Rhythms" series.

Now and then, current events will impact my work, as seen in "Paris Attacks", "The Disappeared", "Sundance", "The New Norm", the "Courage" series, and "Spirit of Ukraine", among others.

My work consistently expresses the journey of life and my own personal hopes for peace, tolerance and harmony.  I earned a Bachelor's Degree from the College of Fine Art from the University of Florida.
