Original artwork description:

This diptych was born from a reflection on the changes that our reality has undergone due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The circumstances that led to its creation were nothing exceptional: I was at the entrance of a swimming pool waiting for the temperature to be detected, and being careful to maintain the distance between me and the other users in the queue. At that moment I could not help but note once again how a daily circumstance such as entering the pool has acquired new characteristics that have made it lose its human component in favor of an impersonal formality, even between people who know each other for a long time. As Aristotle writes, man is by nature a social being, who had almost never found himself having to protect himself from contact with others on such a large scale, and this fact leads us to ask ourselves whether the end of the emergency will be enough to return to way of relating that we had before. In that row, I thought about an extract of pre-Covid reality but I was no longer able to place it in the present, to adapt it to the new ways of living together. What has resulted is a fracture, the visual representation of a single that was such before the pandemic and is now waiting to take on a new form.

Signed certificate of authenticity, final varnish.
