Simian glitz (2025) Original Sculpture by DILAR

“Simian Glitz” captures the commanding presence of a gorilla through sculptural texture, deep black tones, and shimmering golden accents. Its direct gaze draws the viewer into an encounter that feels both powerful and intimate, revealing a quiet sensitivity beneath its imposing appearance.

Inspired by the expressive nature of these animals, I wanted to explore the relationship between strength and vulnerability. The contours of the face contrast with intricate points of light, creating a surface that invites closer observation. Light and shadow bring out the sculpted details, revealing different aspects of the work as the viewer moves around it.

For me, texture is a language that gives emotion a physical form. In “Simian Glitz,” it connects the animal’s presence with an imaginative, ornamental vision. This sculpture brings a bold focal point to a space, inviting curiosity, conversation, and a deeper appreciation of the beauty of wildlife.
