Signals (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Charles BEALL

30.48 x 60.96 x 3.81cm / 30.48 x 60.96cm (actual image size)

£975.38

A deep green ground carries three clusters. At the top, an oxblood panel holding a slice of pine with its growth rings left bare, and a tall gilded batten running past it. In the middle, three slender dowels crossed by three horizontals — one red, one faced in gold leaf, one plain white. At the foot, a copper-pink bar and a large disc of gold leaf against a second oxblood panel.

The two circles are the argument. One is raw pine, its rings the record of the tree's own years; the other is gold leaf laid over wood, concentric only where the leaf happened to tear. Nothing else in the piece is left unworked.

The dowels pass through both the middle and lower clusters, tying the composition together down its length. Elements sit at several depths and cast their own shadows across the green.

Acrylic, metal leaf and wood on wood panel. 12 × 24 in. Signed. Ready to hang.
