I try to take advantage of all opportunities to develop subject matter ideas. On a very early morning when the sun was rising and I was driving on Rt. 287 in New Jersey in noticed the sun and headlights of other cars in my rear view mirror. While I love plein air painting it wasn't possible at this time so I navigated the busy roadway with care to pull over to compose a few reference photos to work from. No one would refer to this roadway as beautiful or picturesque but In the hustle of an early morning I found some quiet beauty in it.
