RAMO D’ARIA 1 (2026) Photograph by Stefano Compagnucci

52 x 52cm (unframed) / 50 x 50cm (actual image size)

£1,000.3

This photograph belongs to a conceptual project exploring the memory of matter. I collect driftwood and roots exclusively at the mouths of rivers longer than 100 km, gathering elements shaped by a long natural history. The material is then decontextualized in my studio and placed on a minimalist set. The background is always a real wall rather than photographic cardboard to ensure a raw visual authenticity. I assemble the fragments using string or occasionally nails without forcing a preconceived structure. I simply allow the shape to emerge and gently guide the creation until the ephemeral sculpture finds its natural balance. The final image is shot on analog film with a Hasselblad 6x6. The negative is scanned and printed on premium Fine Art paper to reveal every texture and the profound silence of these objects.
