Original artwork description:

"Porcelain Ginger" is an acrylic, encaustic and mixed media painting on canvas 92cms W x 115cms H. It is part of a series of paintings called ‘The Jazz Series’. This series of paintings has been inspired by listening to the music of Miles Davis and in this particular case the album “Aura”. This is a ‘fusion’ album. Every piece is named after a colour with much of the work having strong classical influences. It is essentially an experimental work driven by changing musical atmospheres. The painting follows a similar pathway. The painting is built in layers of dyes, acrylic, encaustic and other assorted media. The surface of the painting invites the viewer to look deeper and excavate the underlying layers of paint and texture. There is an immense versatility to contemporary acrylic mediums which has helped with the immediacy of application. Revision and constant re-working form an essential part of the working process. I frequently get asked about ‘drawing’ and ‘planning’. In this painting what might be understood as ‘drawing’ is managed through the use of other media ie: crushed sea shells, wax, canvas strips etc. Essentially this is a ‘painting’. I try not to overcomplicate my paintings You’ve got to put in all these other things that are on your mind too, just to see what emerges, what comes to the forefront. You’ve got to put in all this turmoil, all of one’s ideas. There’s no easy way to make it simple. I continue to be inspired by modern colourists such as Howard Hodgkin, Barbara Rae and John Hoyland together with early Renaissance works, African Art and Art Brut. Limited Edition A2 prints on photo quality paper are also available. See details The painting is shipped in a robust custom made cardboard crate (same as those used to transport large screens). The painting is bubble wrapped to protect the canvas. Further wrapping is made with corrugated card. A wooden frame is placed inside the cardboard crate to preserve the structural strength of the packaging. Each painting is insured to its sale value. Shipping costs within the U.K. take into consideration weight and insurance. U.K. shipping costs for this artwork are £90
