Perseus the Demigod (2026) Original Mixed-media Painting by Natalia Kameneva

This piece belongs to my new "David" series, which explores strength, courage, and an unwavering belief in oneself. Early on, I felt determined to paint a powerful figure—and found him in Perseus, one of the most famous heroes of Greek mythology, renowned for beheading the serpent-haired Medusa.

For this piece, I chose cosmic, universe-inspired tones—my way of bringing the figure into our own time, timeless like the universe itself.

To me, Perseus embodies the same qualities I admire in David: the courage to face something monstrous, and the cunning to overcome it not through brute force alone, but through wit and preparation. On his return journey, he rescued Princess Andromeda from a sea monster and took her as his wife—a true hero's tale of danger, love, and triumph.

For his missions, the gods equipped him with winged sandals to fly, a cap of invisibility to move unseen, and a sickle to strike where it mattered most. Like David, Perseus reminds us that true strength lies not in size, but in courage paired with intelligence.
