Passage (2025) Original Oil Painting by Clint Dean

Passage explores the experience of navigating an unfamiliar world through imagined architectural space.

Towering structures in ochre, muted gold, charcoal, and pale blue-gray form a narrow corridor that draws the viewer toward an uncertain destination. Fragmented lines, layered surfaces, and shifting perspectives create tension between confinement and possibility.

Developed through an intuitive process of painting, obscuring, and rebuilding, the composition gradually emerged without a predetermined destination. Traces of earlier layers remain visible, suggesting the passage of time, deterioration, and renewal.

For me, Passage reflects the feeling of moving through an overwhelming world while remaining curious about what might lie beyond what we can see.
