PALINDROME THE FIRST (2024) Original Mixed-media Painting by Paolo Scaglioni
80 x 100 x 4cm (unframed) / 60 x 80cm (actual image size)
£4,110.67
Original artwork description
This painting is a palindrome. Depending on its orientation, it reveals either a frowning man or one who appears more vigilant, more guarded. I have always been fascinated—both in painting and in writing—by the possibility that a single element can hold two meanings, allowing one image, or even one word, to embody two distinct emotions or states of mind at once. The work is made by adhering an inkjet print to canvas, then scraping, brushing, and working its surface with water and a palette knife over an acrylic ground, so that the image gradually emerges through a process of erosion and revelation.
Materials used:
Acrylic colors, Inkjet papers, Canvas
Details:
- Mixed-media painting on Canvas
