Tick tock

When the clockwork is orange,
it invites optimism
and dispenses its vitamins.

It evokes the movement of a clock.
Tick tock,
towards tomorrow, towards creativity.

Orange like the fox and the squirrel,
fire, a ball, a pretty butterfly.
Orange never stands still.

Tick tock,
sometimes, a more serene orange
manages to slow its pace.

Falling autumn leaves,
the robes of Buddhist monks,
an ancient city or a sunset.

Tick tock

But clever orange can stop dead in its tracks,
illuminating the prisoners’ garb.

And then, meticulously,
tick tock,
you count the hours.
