Another one that goes way back…
This was inspired by my travels at that time. I had spent some time in Nepal … where I got the paper used in this painting. Then I moved to Canada’s west coast with another scenery lined with high mountains.
The sumi inksused at that time were the type I would grind on a wet stone. I could get a strong colour which has yet never faded. Other paintings done of this type and in that period have mostly sold long ago.
This handmade Nepali paper is a thick parchment paper, strong yet pliable. My paintings in that period were done on location, without preliminary sketches nor any working lines on the paper. This is paint applied directly on a blank page.
The close up picture is of higher resolution to be able to get a feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting.
