Mosaic #101 (2024) Original Oil Painting by Dan McKay

This is a collage made from repurposed and recycled paint from failed artwork. Slicing pieces of paint from one of my palettes, I arrange them into patterns, building sculptural paintings. My uncleaned palettes build up layers of paint from past paintings, an autobiography of my process. Through the layering of my palettes, I create unrepeatable patterns and colors in the strata of the palettes, embracing the Dadist idea of “chance collage.”
