Moorland Study 6 (2025) Original Drawing by Steve Potts
14.6 x 10.5cm (unframed) / 12.5 x 7.2cm (actual image size)
£150
Original artwork description
A very small piece, made from memory and imagination of the moors between Denbigh and Snowdonia in North Wales. That stretch of country has a particular bleakness to it, vast and featureless in a way that is hard to ignore. We have spent a lot of time in North Wales as a family, and this landscape has stayed with me. The Sakura oil pastels I used here are greasy and resistant, and the marks they make have a physical weight that suited the subject. The surface ended up looking almost like a seascape, which I hadn't planned, but perhaps the moorland and the sea have more in common than I might think. A small, intimate piece, best seen close up, near a desk or bedside where the texture of the surface becomes part of the experience.
Materials used:
pencil, oil pastel
Details:
- Drawing on Paper
- One of a kind artwork
- Size: 14.6 x 10.5cm (unframed) / 12.5 x 7.2cm (actual image size)
- Signed on the front
- Style: Expressive and gestural
- Subject: Landscapes, sea and sky
