Moonlight captured (2016) Original Watercolour by Phyllis Mahon
31 x 43 x 0.1cm (unframed) / 30 x 40cm (actual image size)
£200
Original artwork description
Clothed in little but dappled moonlight, this woman is reaching to a full moon in a serene landscape. Her right hand is raised whilst her left hand scatters the pearly moonlight behind her. She is a conduit for the light.
Her foot is dipping into flowing water; the land is frosted in pale light.
I'd planned a very pale image with just blue and white but I went for a walk in a very red crisp frosty sunset and when I came back, added some warmth to the image in her hair and in the rich earth between her legs.
Watercolour on blue textured Khadi paper, which is a handmade cotton rag paper from India is 210 gsm paper with a beautiful deckled edge. There's something that I so love about this paper and I have painted almost a hundred images since January 2016!
I am offering this painting for sale unframed.
Please note that the photograph showing the "framed" painting is a Computer Generated Image to give an idea of how it would appear, with the image "floated" to show off the pretty deckled edge of the paper (showing a deep mount/matt, around the edge of the painting).
