Marionette IV (2025) Etchings & engravings by Michaela Wheater

This Marionette is inspired by a Pelham Puppet I have had since childhood. I began by making pencil drawings of it which were then scanned onto acetate before exposing with UV light onto a Photopolymer etching plate. This process has some similarities to analogue photography but leaves you with a developed metal backed plate that will hold ink in the same way that an etching plate does. The colour comes from inking, wiping then printing a separate collagraph plate.
This is an original artist's print and is hand made. It is labelled A/P because it is an Artist's Proof or trial and is the only print that exists with green as the predominant colour.

Oil based printing ink on soft white Somerset etching paper.
