Lindisfarne Variations - Glancing Light (2025) Monoprint by Rebecca Vincent

In Glancing Light, I focus on the serene atmosphere of dawn on Holy Island. Lindisfarne Castle appears clearly against the soft clouds drifting across the sky. As the sun rises, its reflection sparkles across the waves. My aim was to capture the feeling of peace for this iconic Northumberland view in the first light of the day.

A monotype is a one-off hand-made print, just as unique as a painting. I used rollers and dabbers to spread out ink on a smooth plastic board then made marks with a cloth and other tools. The ink was transferred to the paper using a hand-operated printing press. I built up layers of over-lapping colous by printing several times.

The paper is 34 x 69cm and the image goes to the edges. This unique printed artwork could be flat mounted or window mounted.

Supplied unmounted/unframed, rolled in a wide, strong tube. (Framed images are shown for scale and context only - frame not included.)
