Lavender Sunshine (2026) Etchings & engravings by Mariann Johansen-Ellis
25.4 x 35.56cm (unframed) / 10.16 x 15.24cm (actual image size)
£68.39
Artwork description
the lavenders are still in bloom, and the bees are very happy about that, coming in to the tail end of a long summer.
I made 3 little etchings with the same feeling, the 2 last thumbnails show them hanging together.
An aquatint etching is a copperplate where with the help of acid I have incised my drawing, I then add aquatint to get the deep tones of ink, with the help of rosin that gets heated onto the plate, all a bit complicated but fun, and us printmakers, we love to complicate things!
Every time I print the copperplate, I have to ink it up with special etching inks, and then put it on my etching press, place the printmaking paper on top and pull it through, this of course does make for small differences from print to print, which I hope you will appreciate as a sign of the direct involvement by the artist in each print.
When the ink and paper has dried, I sign and number each print, please note I can't guarantee you get the number in the photo. This etching is printed in an edition of 40 prints.
The size of "Lavender Sunshine" is, beautiful printmaking paper:
14" x 10" ( 35 cm x 25 cm)
with the actual printed copperplate: 6" x 4" ( 15 cm x 10 cm)
Framing is easy as you can find a lot of standard frames that fits this print.
