Warm morning light, lavender fields, golden grasses and cypress trees create the atmosphere of a sunlit Provence landscape. A small house with a terracotta roof adds a warm accent to the open countryside.
This painting grew from my memories of travelling through Provence. I do not copy photographs or reproduce one exact location. Instead, I bring together remembered colours, light, fields and cypress trees to capture the feeling of a peaceful summer morning in southern France. Expressive brushwork and vibrant colour convey an impression of Provence rather than a literal representation.
