A lone rider in white turns his dark horse into the last light of the day, dust rising at its hooves as the sun sits low on the horizon. I made this photograph in Oman at the edge of evening, when the plain turns gold and horse and rider become one gesture against the sky.

Horsemanship in Oman is not a performance for visitors; it is an inheritance, practiced with a quiet pride that shows in the way a rider sits. I waited for the moment when the horse gathered itself and the silhouette held, the whole scene balanced between movement and stillness.
