This painting was inspired by the timeless beauty of La Baule, one of the most iconic beaches in Brittany, France. It was born from a desire to capture not only the elegance of its vast shoreline but also the unique atmosphere that makes this region so captivating. Brittany has a remarkable way of blending light, sea, and open space into landscapes that invite contemplation, and La Baule is a perfect expression of that harmony.

Seen from above, the beach becomes more than a place of leisure; it transforms into a human landscape. Individual figures dissolve into simple silhouettes, each one carrying its own untold story while sharing the same light, the same horizon, and the same fleeting moment. Together, they create a quiet rhythm that celebrates both our individuality and our connection to the world around us.

Light is the true protagonist of the composition. It softens forms, enhances the delicate shadows, and reduces the scene to its essence, allowing the vastness of the sand to speak as powerfully as the people themselves. The empty spaces are not an absence, but an invitation to pause, breathe, and reflect.

It is my way of preserving the serenity, freedom, and quiet poetry that I experienced in La Baule, and of paying tribute to the enduring beauty of Brittany, whose landscapes continue to inspire a sense of wonder and timelessness.
