January: Lambing Giclée print by Clare Leighton

Wood Engraving (1933). Original size 20.3 x 26.5cm. This is the first amongst a series of twelve print, each corresponding to one month in the year. The images chart the everyday practices of English country life through the seasons, and were initially accompanied by short narratives written by Leighton herself. The images are derived from different counties throughout southern England, but are presented as part of a wider, even timeless structure: the cycles of rural labour as inevitable as the passing of the seasons themselves.

This print is authorised for publication by the artist's Estate and has a seal of authenticity embossed onto the white paper margin. It is from a limited edition of 850 and is hand-numbered and hand-embossed, with deckled edges.
