Inclination (2026) Original Wood Sculpture by Charles BEALL
45.72 x 50.8 x 10.16cm / 45.72 x 50.8cm (actual image size)
£599.4
Original artwork description
A long, dark blue stake cuts across the composition from lower left to upper right, its sharpened tip pointing beyond the edge of the work. Behind it, a structure of verticals and crossbars holds a cobalt disc, a pale whitewashed half-disc, and a weathered gold plank, with a strip of gold leaf broken by flecks of blue.
The stake is not fixed flat against the work. It rises away from the wall as it climbs, so the diagonal exists in space as well as on the surface. Seen from the side, the piece becomes a lean, a tilt, a single gesture held in balance. Inclination plays on both meanings of the word: a physical angle, and a tendency to lean toward something.
Signed. Ready to hang.
