- Held in Place
Original artwork description
Held in Place explores the tension between structure, instability, and the forces that keep things together.
Muted fields of gray, taupe, and pale blue form overlapping geometric shapes, outlined by deep green and interrupted by thin accents of vivid red. The forms appear connected yet slightly displaced, suggesting an arrangement that could shift or come apart at any moment.
Created through an intuitive process of layering, obscuring, and rebuilding, the painting reveals traces of earlier marks beneath its surface. Subtle textures and imperfect edges introduce a sense of vulnerability within the otherwise structured composition.
Rather than depicting a recognizable place, Held in Place invites reflection on the delicate balance between order and uncertainty.
