halfway hidden (2026) Original Charcoal Drawing by Denny Stoekenbroek

Part portrait, part concealment. Heavy charcoal strokes sweep across the face, obscuring one eye while leaving the other exposed. The contrast between delicate facial features and the restless, fragmented marks creates a tension between control and abandon. Neither entirely revealed nor fully concealed, the figure occupies an uncertain space between presence and disappearance — a portrait that offers no easy answers.
