An oil painting that is a continuation of the composition based on an innovative "upside down" approach. The artist abandons the classic gravity, suspending human bodies in vertical, horizontal and lying orientations. Compared to the first part of the expressionist series, the arrangement of forms becomes much more static and muted. The focal point of the composition is the inverted figure of the child, focussed on the intimate threading activity. His clearly marked and exposed hands focus the viewer's attention, giving the scene a ritual character. The colour layer has undergone severe tonement - deep greys and brown greens dominate. Purples have been completely eliminated from the palette, and the old pink appears only in the form of a few, muted accents.
Signed on front. Painted sides, no need to frame.
