Golden Falls is inspired by the quiet beauty of waterfalls as they move through a landscape touched by warm sunlight. I wanted to capture the contrast between the cool movement of the water and the golden warmth of the surrounding landscape.

Painted with expressive watercolour washes, the scene is intentionally loose and atmospheric. Layers of blue, green and ochre allow the waterfalls to emerge gradually, while softened edges and transparent passages create a sense of distance and movement.

Rather than depicting a specific location, this painting is about the feeling of being surrounded by water, light and open landscape.
