Gold at Dusk (2026) Original Oil Painting by Julia Swaby

A hammered gold and darkest olive green (appears almost as black) effect have been created on this painting by using a blend of pure oil and mineral essence which is dropped from a height, wet on wet. The mottling effect of the gold and dark areas is accentuated by being on a Burnt Sienna base, under which lies a whole different composition, barely showing through, though flame like strokes can be seen in places. In certain lights, such as at dusk, the gold takes on a glow.
