Gathered Roses (2026) Original Oil Painting by Hannah Ivory Baker

30 x 30 x 2cm (framed)

£500

Gathered Roses is a small, expressive oil painting exploring the loosely gathered forms of white roses, their delicate petals emerging from a tangle of darker foliage and textured marks.

Soft whites, muted greens and earthy tones are layered and worked into the surface, with areas of paint scraped back and reworked to allow glimpses of earlier marks to remain visible. The composition moves between abstraction and representation, with some flowers becoming more defined while others dissolve into the surrounding colour and texture.

I painted this piece intuitively, using palette knives and brushes to build the composition gradually, allowing the relationships between colour, movement and form to emerge as I worked.

I'm interested in capturing something of the fleeting nature of flowers, not through precise observation, but through the marks and decisions made during the painting process.

An original oil painting created in my North London studio, presented in a deep white frame, ready to hang.
