fractured poise (2026) Original Charcoal Drawing by Denny Stoekenbroek

A figure suspended between composure and disarray. Her gaze cuts through the shadows, while unruly hair and fragmented charcoal strokes dissolve the boundaries of her silhouette. Softly rendered features emerge from a restless field of texture, creating a tension between fragility and strength. The loosely draped fabric reinforces this sense of impermanence — a fleeting moment in which nothing feels entirely settled.
The drawing explores the beauty of imperfection, where control meets spontaneity and vulnerability becomes a form of quiet defiance.
