When we retreat into our homes, we seek the reassurance of safety. We imagine that danger remains outside, held at bay by the boundary that separates us from the world. Yet that boundary is fragile, and there is no certainty that it can truly protect us. This work explores that precarious threshold. In the background, an indistinct dark presence hovers, suggestive rather than defined. In the foreground, a familiar iron window grille frames the view onto a garden. On this side, ourselves. Beyond the barrier, what we perceive as a threat may, in fact, be something entirely different. We cannot know. Yet we choose enclosure over uncertainty, placing our trust in the thin line that divides inside from outside.
