Ecailles

A portrait suspended between darkness, silence and instinct, Ecailles explores the fragile boundary between the human and the animal.

A woman emerges from deep blue-black shadows, her face partially concealed by the sinuous body of a snake. The serpent becomes more than a symbolic presence: it winds around her head and neck like a second skin, creating an intimate and almost mysterious connection between the figure and the creature.

The soft, directional light reveals only fragments of the face, leaving much of the portrait hidden in darkness. This tension between revelation and concealment gives the image a dreamlike, almost ritualistic quality.

The snake evokes transformation, instinct, danger and renewal, while the calm expression of the woman suggests a quiet acceptance of this connection. The textured scales contrast with the delicacy of the skin, creating a visual dialogue between vulnerability and strength.
