I was inspired by this breathtaking view high above the Meramec River in the Missouri Ozarks. The sweeping landscape, the depth of the valley, and the quiet power of the river far below made it impossible not to stop and take it all in. I began the painting on location—en plein air—wanting to capture the freshness of that first impression.

I hope you feel some of the same excitement I felt when I saw this view for the very first time, standing at the edge of that overlook with the wind moving through the trees and the light shifting across the hills.
