Painting portraits has been the cornerstone of my art career from the very beginning. There's something about capturing a face — the light in the eyes, the tilt of a smile — that no other subject quite matches. Lately, though, I've missed painting from life, the quiet exchange between artist and sitter, daily.

So I decided to bring that spirit into the studio a different way: with a new series celebrating the faces that shaped our culture, our music, our sense of joy. I'm calling it "Iconic."

This piece kicks things off — painted in loose, expressive strokes, chasing warmth and light rather than sharp detail. It's less about a perfect likeness and more about capturing presence: the glow, the warmth, the spark that makes someone unforgettable.
