Original artwork description
I wanted to capture the energy and movement of DJing, rather than creating a static portrait. The figure, turntables and records are drawn with sweeping, loose lines and exaggerated movement, giving the image an almost animated quality. This reflects my background in animation and illustration, where I’m particularly interested in creating the feeling of movement within a still image.
The sketchy pen work, spontaneous marks and splashes of watercolour give the piece a raw, energetic character, while the multiple records and circular lines help reinforce the sense of rotation and rhythm.
Pencil, ink and watercolour on high quality 300 gsm paper. No frame included. Sent carefully rolled in a sturdy mailing tube.
